What does a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis mean?
Often classified as an autoimmune disease, multiple sclerosis degrades patients’ central nervous systems by damaging the protective tissue that covers their nerves. The disease’s symptoms often worsen gradually over time, sometimes making it difficult for patients to walk, but some patients are able to manage their symptoms despite the lack of a cure.
Treatment typically focuses on speeding recovery from attacks, slowing the progression of the disease and managing MS symptoms.
