A Look at Mickey Rourke’s Boxing Injuries and Facial Surgery:

Mickey Rourke was perhaps one of Hollywood’s most known faces. Before landing his breakthrough role in a big-budget movie picture with 1981’s Body Heat, he played a minor character in Steven Spielberg’s 1941.

The 69-year-ascent old’s fame was aided by his appearances in films like Diner, Rumble Fish, 912 Weeks, Barfly, Angel Heart, Year of the Dragon, Homeboy, and Wild Orchid, among others.

Early in the 1990s, the actor made the decision to leave behind a tremendously successful acting career and move to professional boxing. According to reports, Rourke started boxing when he was 12 years old and had a brief amateur career before breaking into the entertainment industry.

Rourke had 27 victories between 1964 and 1973, including 12 straight knockouts, and 3 defeats.

He made a comeback to the ring as a professional boxer in the 1990s, and he too enjoyed remarkable success. He won six fights—four by knockout and two by draws—in eight matches to remain unbeaten.

He, unfortunately, suffered numerous horrible facial injuries during the course of his fighting career. According to sources, Rourke also had toe and rib injuries in addition to two broken noses. He also had a cleft tongue, a compressed cheekbone, and even a brief loss of short-term memory.

Rourke also needed a number of reconstructive surgeries to treat his boxing-related injuries. But several of those procedures didn’t provide the actor with the desired results, so he had to have surgery more than once.

When compared to Rourke’s debut in the field, his facial features were hardly recognizable. Finally speaking about his injuries was the Wrestler actor in a 2009 interview with The Daily Mail. At the time, he confirmed, “I broke my nose twice. I underwent five procedures for my nose and one for a broken cheekbone.

He also talked about how his reconstructive surgery affected him and how it altered the way he looked. He declared:

I went to the incorrect person to put my face back together because most of it was to fix the devastation that boxing had made of my face.

After his most recent interview with Newsmax, people became more curious about Mickey Rourke’s appearance. Many people remarked about how intrigued they were by his changing appearance after the interview.

Personal Life

Terry Farrell and Sasha Volkova are two celebrities whom Mickey Rourke has dated. He wed the actress Debra Feuer in 1981. In 1989, the couple got a divorce. On June 26, 1992, he wed Carré Otis, an actress.

Rourke was detained in 1994 on suspicion of “spousal abuse,” but the charges were eventually dismissed after the couple made up. They did get a divorce, nevertheless, in December 1998.

He made a sizable donation in May 1989 to aid Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) member Joe Doherty in his quest for political asylum in the US. He was sought after by UK authorities for his role in a 1980 shootout that resulted in the death of a British Special Air Service member.

He endorsed the Iraq War and US President George W. Bush in June 2006. He was detained at Miami Beach in November 2007 for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

He and Russian model Anastassija Makarenko have been dating since 2009. He publicly denounced Donald Trump in 2015, referring to him as a “bully,” and backed Ben Carson for the Republican presidential nomination.

Rourke enjoys dogs, especially small-breed canines. He participated in a 2007 protest and is an advocate for spay/neuter procedures. The “love of my life,” as he called his dog Loki, was flown to England, where he was filming a movie, at a cost of $5,400. At the age of 18, Loki passed away in February 2009.
