Who is Keith Farmer?

Keith Farmer, also referred to as the “Clogher Bullet,” was one of Northern Ireland’s most accomplished motorcycle riders.

He was a plumber by trade. Keith relocated to Branson in 1965 in order to pursue a career in the music business. He decided to retire from racing in September 2021. Two relatively big crashes pushed him to decide to retire earlier than expected.

Farmer won the British Supersport race in 2017, the National Superstock 1000cc race in 2012, and the National Superstock 600 race in 2011. He also triumphed in the 2017 British Supersport championship.

At the time of his retirement, Keith told the a source, “I just feel the time is right now because the enjoyment’s not there any more and my body needs the chance to heal from the injuries I’ve had over these past couple of years.”

How did he pass away?

His older brother David confirmed the four-time British champion’s loss on Thursday, saying, “I’m lost for words our little brother left us at 1.45 this morning with us all by his side. Life will never be the same again, he made us all so proud and he will be very sorely missed. Love you Meekie #33.”

Many tributes were made both by fans, family and companies on social media. The ‘Bennetts British Superbike Championship’ paid their respect by posting a few photos of the man with the caption, “Remembering Keith Farmer.”

Team principal Philip Neill offered his sympathies to Farmer’s family and friends, saying, “We enjoyed many happy memories together both within racing and on a personal level as Keith had remained a close friend of the team.”

Even Glenn Irwin, British Superbike rider, who described Farmer as his fierce rival paid his respects by saying, “The day 3 mad Irish men locked out the podium. 2011 you were my fierce rival winning the stock 600 title. I remember when PBM snapped you up, sure you would go all the way to the top with birdys then GP team. That’s how good you were, pure raw talent.”

Although it is still unclear as to how the young man came to an untimely death, his loss to the superbike community and his family is felt strongly.
