Who is Dwayne Wade’s ex-wife?
Funches-Wade originally met Wade when she was in fifth grade, and the two began dating when they both attended Harold L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.

Wade filed for divorce from Funches-Wade shortly after the birth of their second child, Zaya. Their divorce ultimately took six years to finalize, the Miami Heat legend was granted full custody of their two children.
Wade also got married to his then-girlfriend Gabrielle Union in 2014 after they moved on from their past relationships. Both the couple supported their transgender daughter Zaya in 2020.

Zaya came out as transgender in public in 2020. When the former athlete submitted a petition to formally change his child’s name and gender two years later, Funches accused her ex-husband of taking advantage of their daughter Zaya’s gender identity.
In documents submitted in November 2022, Funches-Wade argued that her ex-husband was trying to “profit” from her coming out as transgender and asked the court to reject her daughter Zaya’s request for a name change.
Funches-Wade asserted that Wade broke their custody arrangement by failing to contact or discuss her with Zaya’s name change or transition. She therefore requested that Wade’s request be denied by the court until Zaya is 18 years old.

How did the former couple address the issue online?
Wade, addressed the situation in an Instagram post where he began a message writing, “Since this must be the new way of parenting, I guess I have to address these allegations, which is a damn shame.”
In response to the post, Funches-Wade wrote a long statement on her blog addressing the entire situation. Siohvaughn fired back at Wade and stated that his comments are completely untrue.
