“Avengers” star Jeremy Renner claims he broke more than 30 bones in a snowplough accident on New Year’s Day that kept him in the hospital for more than two weeks.
Renner, who plays superhuman archer Hawkeye in the Marvel film and television series “Universe,” shared a photo on Instagram with the caption:
“Morning workouts, resolutions all changed this particular new years …. Spawned from tragedy for my entire family, and quickly focused into uniting actionable love I want to thank EVERYONE for their messages and thoughtfulness for my family and I …. Much love and appreciation to you all. These 30 plus broken bones will mend , grow stronger, just like the love and bond with family and friends deepens . Love and blessings to you all.”
Renner turned 52 while in the hospital. He was hit by a snowplough while ploughing a driveway near his Nevada home, leaving him with “blunt chest damage and orthopaedic problems,” according to his spokesperson.
He had two procedures and was in the intensive care unit.
On Monday night, the “Mayor of Kingstown” star responded to a show’s Twitter post, saying, “Outside of my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home.”
According to a 911 call record acquired by CNN, Renner was “totally crushed by a huge snowcat (vehicle)” and had “severe (difficulty) breathing.” It goes on to say that “the right half of his chest has collapsed And his torso is crushed.”
Renner’s snowcat, an engine-powered equipment used to clear snow, began to drift away while Renner was still in the driver’s seat, according to Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam.
