There are some things that Valkyrie doesn’t like about her new role as King of Asgard in Thor: Love and Thunder, but Tessa Thompson has no problem with her new role as producer.
After launching Viva Maude, Thompson got a first-look deal with HBO and HBO Max for two television projects in 2021.
When Taika Waititi learned that Thompson was interested in learning more about the production process, he offered her to assist in the postproduction of his Thor: Ragnarok sequel, Love and Thunder.
When witnessing an early version, Thompson even lobbied to get a quick scene with “Val” and two Matt Damon and Luke Hemsworth actor roles.
The first time that bit was cut away, I was devastated, but then it reappeared and I was ecstatic. Because “That has to be in the movie,” I couldn’t believe it. According to Thompson, the Hollywood Reporter has the story.
In a brief moment of sadness, I realized how much fun it had been. I really enjoyed having them around to talk about the significance of theatre and storytelling in Asgardian culture.
Creed III director Michael B. Jordan didn’t change much of a relationship between Thompson and Jordan, despite the fact that he was in charge of the project. Thompson’s input was welcomed by Jordan as they worked on the story and Bianca’s character.
When it comes to sports films, “in the past, it’s been a lot of work to make sure that woman has agency and an arc,” Thompson explains.
For me, the most important thing was to make sure she wasn’t just driving the story along for the sake of moving the storyline forward.
This time around, I was able to work more closely with Mike on the script, which is something I don’t normally get to do. On this particular day, I was much freer to improvise than I had been in the past.
For her first feature directorial debut, Thompson starred with Lily James as Ollie, a young woman who is trying to find a secure place to get her reproductive care in an illegal rural hamlet.
Reversing Roe v. Wade in late June has left Thompson and DaCosta feeling dismayed as they look forward to their next project.
Hedda Gabler for Orion and Plan B, which the director recently announced, is the most likely next project for Valkyrie, but she hasn’t spoken anything about it.
It felt like the worst-case situation for a young woman in this nation at the time, says Thompson of her work on Little Woods.
After all this time, we’ve merely scratched the surface of what could have happened.” “We’ve entered the worst-case scenario.”
With THR recently, Thompson also talked about her friendship with Natalie Portman and the stark contrast between their time together on Alex Garland’s Annihilation set compared to Love and Thunder’s set.
Then she dispels some of the common myths about how Christian Bale and Ed Harris operate together in the film industry.

So How Does It Feel to Be the Latest Spokesperson for Old Spice?
Pleasure and honor are mutually reinforcing. Interestingly, my first deodorant experience was with Old Spice, thanks to my grandfather’s preference. As a result, I recall using his Old Spice as a little girl.
That’s all there is to it. Laughs. Because I used it when I was too young to need deodorant, I have fond memories of how it made me feel like a grownup.
Old Spice has a special place in my heart because it reminds me of my grandfather.
Valkyrie also rocks a Phantom of the Opera shirt at one point. Has she gotten into musicals during her time on New Asgard?
That’s exactly what she’s done! She’s taken up the art of singing and dancing on stage. I think she went on a tour because she had to meet leaders from other countries as a king.
As far as I can tell, she’s been away from New Asgard for some while now. Duties as a diplomat.
After spending a few days in the Big Apple, she presumably fell in love with the art of stage acting. I’m sure she also enjoyed Cats, Chicago, and other long-running Broadway productions like those.
