There’s a good possibility that you’ve sang (and danced!) along to a Madonna song at least once, even if the ’80s weren’t your formative years. After all, the pop artist from Bay City, Michigan, is a global phenomenon. Not for nothing is she known as the “Queen of Pop.”
Madonna Louise Ciccone, better known as Madonna, shot to prominence in the early 1980s thanks to the release of her debut self-titled album, which included the hits “Lucky Star,” “Borderline,” and “Holiday.” By 2022, the singer will have released 14 studio albums, been nominated for 28 Grammys, and won seven times.
To stay in the public eye for over four decades inevitably invites much scrutiny, including rumours about plastic surgery. The mother of six has been accused of plastic surgery several times. Although Madonna has never addressed the rumours that she has had plastic surgery, she has fired back at her critics.
Soon after Madonna’s surprise performance at New York City’s The Stonewall Inn on New Year’s Eve, rumours began circulating that she had butt implants. The singer sent a profound remark on Instagram shortly after a video of her became viral.
I am not in need of anyone’s approval and I have the same right to choose what happens to my body as anyone else. Freedom, respect, fearlessness, and equality were among the hashtags she included in her post.
The two-time VMA winner has spoken out about body shaming speculation few times since then. As Madonna presented at the Grammy Awards in February 2023, rumours began circulating regarding her appearance.
“Instead of concentrating on what I said in my speech—that I am grateful to artists like Sam [Smith] and Kim [Petras] for their lack of fear—many people decided to only talk about close-up images of me shot with a long lens camera by a press photographer that would deform anyone’s face!!” Madonna said back then in a long Instagram post. Again, I find myself in the spotlight of the pervasive ageism and sexism in our society. Yet if she stays independent, ambitious, and fearless after the age of 45, she will be punished by a society that refuses to recognise or honour women like her. To this day, I make no apologies for the way I look, dress, or any other aspect of my personal style.
And yet, Madonna keeps tearing up the stage and ignoring her critics.
And in September of 2021, she wore a black leather bodysuit to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards and looked better than ever. Craig Smith, one of Madonna’s personal trainers, says that the singer is extremely serious about her health and fitness.
She combines circuit training with interval training and resistance exercise. Craig told Daily Mail Australia in March 2016 that dance was integral to his performance. According to Women’s Health, Madonna eats primarily vegetarian and occasionally vegan food as part of her macrobiotic diet.
Some of her most devoted followers are discussing the Grammy winner’s changing appearance. She teased her impending biography in an Instagram post in March of 2022. Among her 17.8 million fans, some have noticed that she has changed drastically. She continues to boastfully share images of herself online.
When you wait for something, it eventually comes. Madonna captioned the photo with a string of movie emojis, reading, “Want Race Me…”
