There has been news confirmation from police that Tekashi was hospitalized after he was beaten while in a South Florida LA Fitness steam room Tuesday. It was confirmed on Wednesday.
“An altercation occurred between several individuals, leaving Daniel Hernandez injured,” the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office shared on Facebook on Wednesday. “Thankfully, his injuries are non-life threatening.”
His attorney, Lance Lazzaro, later revealed that the twenty-six-year-old rapper has suffered facial cuts.
In a video that has since gone viral, Hernandez was shown on camera lying on the floor of the gym’s restroom as at least two men kicked and pulled him by the hair.
Before becoming a prominent figure in hip-hop, 6ix9ine was an Instagram sensation with millions of followers.
He co-wrote the platinum-selling smash song “Fefe” with Nicki Minaj, which reached No. 3 on the pop charts, and “Stoopid” with Bobby Shmurda, a rapper who was incarcerated at the time.
Lazzaro added that 6ix9ine attempted to defend himself during the attack but was defeated due to his lack of personal security and the overwhelming number of attackers.
The rapper worked with legal authorities to bring charges against other gang members, which resulted in his early release from a federal jail.
