The third season of the popular Apple TV+ comedy series “Ted Lasso” sets for a spring 2023 release.

The announcement took place at Apple’s presentation at the Television Critics Association’s winter 2023 press tour, which also included “Ted Lasso” co-creator Bill Lawrence and writer/star Brett Goldstein on a panel discussing their upcoming comedy series “Shrinking.”

Along with the release, a new first-look image was also revealed, which you can see above, that depicted Ted (Jason Sudeikis) and Nathan (Nick Mohammed) squaring off after becoming rivals in the Season 2 finale.

When questioned about “Ted Lasso” at the discussion, Lawrence was tight-lipped about Season 3 but replied, “I’ve seen edits, and it’s fucking wonderful,” while Goldstein highlighted his delight in the season.

Though no official confirmation has been provided, it has long been assumed that Season 3 will be the final season of “Ted Lasso,” owing in great part to statements made by cast members.

Sudeikis told Entertainment Weekly in 2021 that he envisaged a three-season arc for the series but would be open to creating more, while Goldstein told the Sunday Times that Season 3 was being scripted as a curtain call.

“Ted Lasso” follows the title character, a small-time college football coach from Kansas who is appointed to lead a professional soccer team in England despite having no prior coaching expertise.

At the end of Season 2, Nathan quits AFC Richmond to coach a rival team owned by the Richmond owner’s (Hannah Waddingham) ex-husband (Anthony Head). Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift, Juno Temple, and Phil Dunster also appear.

Sudeikis acts as executive producer alongside Bill Lawrence under his Doozer Productions label, in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television. Doozer’s Jeff Ingold also acts as an executive producer, alongside Liza Katzer as a co-executive producer. Sudeikis, Lawrence, Hunt, and Joe Kelly created the sitcom, which is based on an existing premise and characters from NBC Sports.
