Jennifer Grey, an American actress, has opened up about the influence her nose surgery has had on her professional life.

The 62-year-old actress revealed in an interview with People Magazine while promoting her upcoming memoir, Out of the Corner, that after two rhinoplasty surgeries following her global fame in 1987, her face looked unrecognizable, which ultimately led her to “lose her identity and her career overnight” in the words of the mag.

She recalled attending a premiere shortly after she had her nose operation and stated that her buddy Michael Douglas didn’t recognize her since she looked so different.

Jennifer Grey went on to say that she had always been anti-rhinoplasty despite the fact that both of her parents had undergone the procedure.

She is most known for her role as Frances “Baby” Houseman in the 1987 romantic comedy Dirty Dancing, in which she co-starred with Patrick Swayze.

She was 26 years old at the time, and the film featured a young Jennifer with her actual nose.

At the time, Grey was traveling with her then-boyfriend Matthew Broderick in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, when he was killed in a car accident.

As a result of Broderick’s mistaken lane change, he struck and killed Margaret Doherty (63), and Anna Gallagher (28).

Grey has remarked that she couldn’t appreciate the success of “Dirty Dancing” because she felt so much survivor’s remorse over the accident.
