The eighth season of NBC’s Chicago Med premiered tonight, and while there will be a painful goodbye to a series regular, there was also a stunning reappearance in the episode’s last beats that was cause for jubilation.
The lives of emergency service personnel are also unpredictable, frequently challenging, and unpleasant. But no matter how the seasons play out, one thing is certain: Gaffney Chicago Medical Center always knows how to up the drama.
The episode takes up immediately after the Season 7 finale, which saw Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Dylan Scott (Guy Lockard) in peril as well as Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) and Dylan’s love interest Milena/Jo (Riley Voelkel).
Although all four make it to the emergency room, not everyone is in good health. Dylan is distraught when Milena/Jo passes away on the table after being accidentally shot by him as he tried to protect her from a Serbian mafia member.
She requested that Dylan not take responsibility for her passing just before she passed away, but he is unable to comply with her wish. Lockard, who debuted in Season 7, has already officially left the show.
