An intriguing new rumour about Jon Favreau, who has been instrumental in shaping numerous crucial aspects of the Star Wars world, is making its way around the web. This information has been compiled from a wide variety of web resources, including dedicated Star Wars channels and fan forums. Some of whom have long held grudges against certain members of the Lucasfilm leadership. Consequently, it has been assigned the customary internet-based speculation label:

The internet is abuzz with rumours that Kathleen Kennedy and Jon Favreau have had a contentious relationship for some time. Kennedy’s propensity for meddling in Star Wars projects has been widely cited as one of the main causes of the studio’s all-too-common mid-project exodus of talented individuals.

Reportedly, Favreau had some success in standing up to this, pushing back on it, or simply disregarding efforts at meddling. This is what separated The Mandalorian from the rest of the subpar Star Wars stuff, which culminated in the terrible Obi-Wan Kenobi film from last year.

Online commenters claim that Favreau and Kathleen Kennedy had a falling out over Kennedy’s role in Carano’s dismissal against Favreau’s desires. Favreau’s schemes were thwarted, and the Rangers of the New Republic was one of them.

There was supposedly further interference with The Book Of Boba Fett. In this case, Kennedy’s involvement in the tale between Grogu and Luke Skywalker was the root of a major problem. Many critics felt that the 2.5 episode of The Mandalorian that undid what looked like a natural and wonderful ending to Grogu’s narrative was thrown in out of nowhere.

This is due to the fact that Grogu and Din Djarin were supposedly kept separate by design. In spite of this, Kennedy insisted that Grogu be reintroduced to The Mandalorian in that jarring, out-of-character episode thanks to the commercial potential of “Baby Yoda.”

As Favreau was working on the impression that he had independence, this presented a major problem. Favreau finally confronted Disney’s then-CEO Bob Chapek and informed him that he was leaving the company. Supposedly after hearing Favreau’s complaints, Chapek offered him a new deal to stay, one in which he would have complete creative control over The Mandalorian and his future endeavours. Despite a leadership shift at Disney, this arrangement remains in effect. Since Kennedy hasn’t been involved in any Star Wars projects recently, season 3 of The Mandalorian will be the least-Kennedy-heavy of the bunch.
