After speaking with DC Studios co-chief James Gunn, Dwayne Johnson claims that his DC anti-hero Black Adam “will not be in their first chapter of storytelling.”

In a social media post shared on Tuesday, Johnson announced the information and stated that DC and Seven Bucks will “continue exploring the most useful ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.”

Gunn replied by tweeting, “Love the Rock, and I’m always excited to see what he and Seven Bucks do next. Can’t wait to collaborate soon.”

Johnson wrote: “James and I have known each for years and have always rooted for each other to succeed. It’s no different now, and I will always root for DC (and Marvel) to win and WIN BIG.”

He continued by expressing his pride in the movie that was released in October and promising to constantly “listen” to his supporters.

The above statement by Johnson is gushing in its appreciation for Gunn, stating that the two have known one other “for years” and “have always rooted for each other to succeed.” That comes a day after Gunn addressed the “disrespectful outrage” from some DC fans about his artistic choices with regard to Cavill and Gadot.

“We were aware there would be a period of turbulence when we took this gig, and we knew we would sometimes have to make difficult and not-so-obvious choices, especially in the wake of the fractious nature of what came before us,” Gunn posted.

Dwayne Johnson Speaks About "Black Adam," Says "It Will Not Be in DC's First Chapter of Storytelling"

“Our choices for the DCU are based upon what we believe is best for the story and best for the DC characters who have been around for nearly 85 years. Perhaps these choices are great, perhaps not, but they are made with sincere hearts and integrity, and always with the story in mind.”

There is still a lot of speculation about who will remain and who will be recast, including suggestions that Jason Momoa may return but play a new role.

To date, “Black Adam” has made $391 million globally (against a $195 million budget, including marketing), however, Johnson has challenged this estimate on Twitter.
