The Cut article includes passages from several of the letters, in which the stalker refers to Derek and Maria’s children as “the young blood” and provides information about the home. Although they misspelled “Broaddus” and used the phonetic spelling “Broaddus,” they addressed the couple by name and recognized the names of their children with the proper spellings.
The letters themselves were typed, but the addresses were always scrawled by hand on the envelopes.
The Watcher was never apprehended, which is what makes this tale so horrifying. Even though there were several potential possibilities, there was never enough proof to identify the stalker.
