Even though Hulu might not be the first streaming service people think of when they want to watch Christmas movies, it can compete with some of the bigger services.
Even though Disney+ has Home Alone and HBO Max has Miracle on 34th Street, Hulu is a major player in the streaming world when it comes to Christmas movies.
It has original content, a couple of “so bad they’re good” movies, and movies that are about to become classics.
A Very Brady Christmas (1988)
The Brady Bunch got back together for the first time in 14 years in A Very Brady Christmas, but the reunion was bittersweet. Even though the actors were all in the same movie, that wasn’t enough for people to really get into it.
People thought the direct-to-television movie, which came out 33 years ago, was a bit too sappy and rough around the edges, even though a lot of people watched it. On top of that, the movie has too many things that don’t make sense and are hard to overlook. But even die-hard fans of the series could still enjoy some parts of A Very Brady Christmas.
Santa Claus: The Movie (1985)
Fans thought that mutant Santa would show up in the MCU in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, but Santa Claus: The Movie is the closest thing to a superhero movie about Santa Claus. The movie is set up like a superhero movie, and B.Z. is a clear-cut bad guy (John Lithgow).
B.Z. is a boss at a toy company, and he has used trickery to get elves to work for him. That sounds like a Marvel Cinematic Universe bad guy, and if he could, he’d probably try to steal Tony Stark’s tech. The movie is worth seeing just to see how Lithgow played the bad guy in the 1980s.

Noelle (2019)
Noelle is another Christmas movie with a unique plot that hasn’t been done before in a Holiday film. In the movie, Noelle and Nick are Santa’s daughter and son. When their father retires, they have to take over for him. It’s not just a fun Christmas movie; it’s also a great movie about the bond between siblings, and there aren’t enough of those.
Nope, a movie coming out in 2022, is a great example of this type of movie, but it isn’t really a movie for kids. Even though Noelle gets a little mushy at the end, Bill Hader’s unbeatable comedy acting keeps the movie from being too mushy, but the movie could have used a lot more of this dry humor.
A Christmas Carol (2009)
The Polar Express by Robert Zemeckis was a huge technical achievement for motion capture in movies. It was also a warm, festive, and fun movie. The director wanted to make another animated Christmas movie with futuristic technology, called “A Christmas Carol,” and have it do as well.
The movie is kind of like if The Polar Express was all about the Hobo who lives on top of the train. It’s not very happy, and Jim Carrey’s performance as Ebenezer Scrooge is typical of his acting style.
But just like The Grinch, another Christmas movie starring Carrey, this is exactly why many people love the 2009 movie and why it’s one of the best adaptations of A Christmas Carol.

Happiest Season (2020)
Even though Hulu’s original Christmas movies don’t have that warm holiday feeling and leave a lot to be desired, Happiest Season comes the closest to capturing the Christmas spirit. In the movie, a woman brings her girlfriend home for the holidays without telling her parents she is gay.
Happiest Season has a great cast of great comedic actors, like Alison Brie and Aubrey Plaza, and it’s full of laughs. It also has a lot of heart and Christmas spirit, and if it weren’t only on Hulu, it would have gotten a lot more attention.
The Holiday (2006)
The way the movie was advertised, it seemed like a typical cheesy romantic movie that takes advantage of a holiday, like Valentine’s Day or New Year’s Eve. But there is so much more to The Holiday.
Cameron Diaz has had a lot of great roles, but one of his movies that isn’t talked about much is The Holiday, in which he gives a surprisingly quiet but still great performance. The basic idea of the movie is that two women from different countries switch places to live so they can fall in love, but it’s turned into a great comedy.

The Man Who Invented Christmas (2017)
Some movie fans may be surprised by how popular The Man Who Invented Christmas has become in the past few years. The movie is fairly new, and even the best Christmas movies take a while to reach such a high level of popularity.
But the 2017 movie is so good that it might not be long before Home Alone and A Muppets Christmas Carol are mentioned in the same sentence.
The movie shows how Charles Dickens wrote the classic novella A Christmas Carol, which came out in 1843. Part of the movie follows Dickens as he writes the novella, and other parts show the story of A Christmas Carol.
This is similar to how Godfather Part II was made. Since the story has been told in many different ways, The Man Who Invented Christmas is one of the most original versions.
