On November 4, Friday, it is announced that the Korean crime drama series, Bargain is releasing in all counties outside of South Korea in 2023 on Paramount+

The film is an adaptation of Lee Chung-Hyun’s short film of the same name (Bargain), which was released in 2015.

Lee’s 2015 short film earned several awards, including best film at the 15th Mise-en-scene Short Film Festival and special jury award at the 14th Asiana International Short Film Festival’s Korean competition.

The series features some well-known cast members including Jun Jong-Seo (Money Heist: Korea) and Jin Seon-kyu (Extreme Job). The director Jun Woo-sung, who was part of the production crew on the original short, expanded the story and created a breakdown, which will be shown in 6 different episodes, (Each of 35-36 mins) for CJ ENM’s flagship streaming service TVING.

The story follows Hyung-Soo (Jin Sun-Kyu), who went to a motel room to meet with Park Joo-Young (Jun Jong-Seo), as he was obsessed with her body and is ready to pay for her services, but something unexpected was happened there.

He was surrounded by a group of strangers who come to buy his organs. They bargain over the price of his organs with Park Joo-Young conducting the auction, but an earthquake suddenly occurs. Within the collapsed building, they struggle to survive.

Meanwhile, Bargain is currently available to watch on TVING in South Korea and soon will debut on Paramount + in 2023.  

The senior Vice President and head of streaming at Paramount’s Asia office, Catherine Park said: “Bargain is an incredible example of the phenomenal creative, compelling stories coming out of Korea, and out of our strategic partnership with CJ ENM and TVING.  We are confident our audiences will love this series and Yonder when the two titles debut on our platform next year.
