A new biography by Hunter Biden’s ex-wife of 24 years shows that although the sole surviving child of President Joe Biden “always acknowledged the benefit and advantage” of his famous family name, he “struggled under a tremendous drug addiction.”
The book by Kathleen Buhle, which was released on Tuesday, is consistent with the life circumstances revealed in Hunter Biden’s autobiography from last year, which paints a portrait of a tormented man.
Hunter has been under federal investigation for possible violations of tax and money laundering rules since 2018. He has been the subject of an investigation by the Republican party ever since the most recent presidential campaign.

He was on the board of the Chinese private equity firm BHR Partners from 2013 to 2016, initially as an unpaid member and then as the owner of a 10% ownership share in the fund. This viewpoint has been regularly cited by Mr. Trump, who has asserted that Joe Biden is “China’s puppet,” as proof of his rival’s corruption.
Hunter also collaborated on a Louisiana natural gas project with Chinese oil mogul Ye Jianming after his father left the White House in 2017. After Ye was taken into custody by Chinese authorities on suspicion of corruption and later went missing, the agreement looks to have fallen through.
However, commercial activities in Ukraine have generated the most criticism. In 2014, Hunter reportedly received up to $50,000 (£38,000) per month when he joined the board of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian natural gas business.
