Because of her ongoing migraines, Kristin Chenoweth was on the verge of quitting her award-winning career.
The Schmigadoon! actress, 53, confessed in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE that she previously believed her chronic migraine, which is characterized by at least 15 headache days per month, would force her to give up her career.
According to her, “it was particularly difficult in my 20s and 30s, and I started to understand that I needed to be my own advocate as we all do as time goes on,” “So I began applying what I was aware of. I tried every suggestion a doctor ever made.”
However, the majority didn’t, according to Chenoweth, and she began to consider retiring.
Even though her big accomplishments were hindered by a persistent migraine, she continued to work.
After taking home the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series award for her performance in Pushing Daisies at the 2009 Emmys, Chenoweth recalled leaving the ceremony in an ambulance because of a “pounding” migraine.
She recalls, “It truly had an impact on my life.” I was unable to take pleasure in certain memorable career moments because of it.
“I remember when I won the Emmy, I went off stage and you know, we got all the paparazzi photographs, and I left via ambulance,” she recalled.
In her 40s, Chenoweth learned that Botox for chronic migraines could be beneficial. At the time, she collaborated with AbbVie on their Center Stage for Chronic Migraine initiative.
She soon “noticed a vast difference” after what he did, which she describes as “small pinches.”
This, she claims, “influenced and changed my life and career.” I’m still able to do what I love to do and haven’t had to retire.
The actress stresses maintaining a healthy lifestyle in addition to Botox to help prevent migraines.
