Rumors have been swirling about Kevin Costner’s future on the hit show Yellowstone, with reports suggesting that the actor has been difficult to work with and that his time on the show may be coming to an end. However, Costner’s attorney has spoken out to debunk these claims, calling them “ridiculous” and “an absolute lie.”
Kevin Costner’s Alleged Feud
According to Marty Singer, Kevin Costner’s legal representative, the stories about the actor’s unwillingness to work on the show are completely unfounded.
“The idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of Season 5 of Yellowstone is an absolute lie. It’s ridiculous — and anyone suggesting it shouldn’t be believed for one second. As everyone who knows anything about Kevin and is well aware, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone way above and beyond to ensure its success”, Singer said in a statement.
He further added: “But more likely, this is a relationship that has run its course. [Yellowstone creator Taylor] Sheridan is certainly furious, I’m told; he can’t finish writing the 5B episodes until the Costner drama is resolved and his star is either in or out. McCarthy, Sheridan, and lead producer David Glasser are said to have been planning for Costner’s eventual exit for a while. And Sheridan has considered killing off John Dutton before, but this time, as they say, it’s personal.”
Despite Singer’s defense of Costner, rumors of unrest on the set of Yellowstone’s fifth season continue to circulate. Reports suggest that show creator Taylor Sheridan is furious with the actor and that he cannot finish writing the second half of the season until Costner’s status is resolved.
Additionally, there have been rumors that Costner’s time on the show may be coming to an end, with producers and Sheridan himself reportedly planning for the actor’s eventual exit. The possibility of killing off Costner’s character, John Dutton, has even been considered, according to sources.
While the future of Yellowstone remains uncertain, one thing is clear: Kevin Costner’s commitment to the show has never wavered, and any claims to the contrary are simply untrue. As the show moves forward, fans can only hope that the behind-the-scenes drama does not overshadow the show’s compelling story and characters.
Could Spin-offs be the Future of Yellowstone, Rather Than the Flagship Series?
Yellowstone has been a huge hit for Paramount+, providing not only the series itself but also multiple spin-off episodes centering on the Yellowstone Ranch or the property on which it is located.

The first was 1883, starring Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Sam Elliott, and the second was 1923, starring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford. With a second season of 1923 on the way, as well as two other prospective limited series, it is evident that the central Yellowstone series is no longer the franchise’s primary priority.
