Mike Myers Discusses His Desire to Return to the ‘Austin Powers’ Franchise
In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, the Canadian actor and comedian discussed his expectations for the spy comedy film series.
Mike Myers, an actor, and comedian think it would be “groovy” if there were another “Austin Powers” movie.
In an interview with Jimmy Fallon on Friday, Myers, who played the title character in the three films of the spy comedy film franchise, expressed his desire to reprise the role.
Myers, who produced and wrote the films that grossed over $676 million at the box office, was asked by the “Tonight Show” host if he would ever reprise his role as Austin Powers, prompting an uproar of applause from the studio’s audience.
Myers said, “No, I don’t have anything to announce, and I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or nonexistence of such a project.”
I’d say, “Sure, why not? It sounds like a lot of fun.”
Additionally, Fallon inquired of Myers regarding his visit to Buckingham Palace, which included a surprising reference to the “Austin Powers” series.
Myers, who was born in Liverpool, claims that he and a friend were watching the Changing of the Guard from inside the gates of Buckingham Palace when a military band began playing the theme song to the film, “Soul Bossa Nova” by Quincy Jones.
A guard, Myers said later, “bet he heard” the song before.
