Get ready Naruto fans as the most unexpected event ever is about to happen!
In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Naruto series, the Jump Festa ’23 event released on Saturday the results of the global “Narutop 99” character popularity survey. Masashi Kishimoto, the franchise’s inception artist, will create a short unique manga series based on the chosen character.
The animation staff advertised the character vote event in a webcast video. The voting period ends on December 31, 2022, and the results of NARUTOP99 will be declared in April 2023.
The “Narutop 99” website allows fans to cast one daily vote for the character of their choosing. A character vote for the series is being conducted for the first time ever globally.
After 15 years of publication in Weekly Shonen Jump, Kishimoto ceased serializing his main Naruto manga in November 2014. The one-volume Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring manga was his next creation. In addition to overseeing the development of the Boruto: Naruto Movie sequel, Kishimoto worked on the writing and character designs.
Kishimoto also shared a beautiful artwork with his NARUTOP99 comment.
“NARUTO has conducted several character popularity polls in Japan’s Shonen Jump magazine, but this is our first time doing a worldwide vote, so I’m looking forward to seeing which characters hit the top ranks!” “I’m looking forward to receiving many votes from people all across the world,” Kishimoto said in his statement.
In May 2016, Weekly Shonen Jump published the first chapter of the Boruto sequel manga by Mikie Ikemoto and Uky Kodachi. In July 2019, the manga was transferred to Shueisha’s V Jump publication. Beginning with the manga’s 52nd chapter in November 2020, Masashi Kishimoto succeeded Kodachi as the author.
The television anime based on the manga, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, premiered in April 2017. The anime is being streamed on Crunchyroll and Hulu simultaneously by Viz Media and Viz Media. In September 2018, the anime’s Toonami block on Adult Swim premiered. The anime is being released on home video by Viz Media.
