This year’s Eurovision Song Contest kicks off in Turin, Italy, tomorrow night, and the United Kingdom is hoping to break its long-standing losing streak. The United Kingdom is represented by TikTok sensation Sam Ryder, who is hoping that his song SPACEMAN will have a significant impact across Europe. A vocalist and guitarist from the United States are widely expected to win the tournament after Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra came in second. There is no doubt that whoever comes out on top in today’s final vote will be greeted with open arms back in their own countries.
Spanish entry Chanel Terrero is less likely to be supported by their country than other acts in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC).
Singer, dancer, and actress performed the reggaeton-influenced song ‘SlowMo’ earlier this year. An alleged vote bias dispute surrounded the musician’s Eurovision nomination in 1991, who was born in Cuba’s capital of Havana.
Spanish Eurovision hopeful Chanel was selected by RTVE’s Benidorm Fest song contest in late January after she performed in the state-owned network’s annual competition. Despite their popularity, Tanxugueiras and Rigoberta Bandini were beaten by the vocalist.
Spain Eurovision 2022 Controversy:
In Spain’s northwest region, Galician is spoken, and Tanxugueiras were widely praised for their ability to sing in Galician.
Song critics have dubbed Bandini’s popular song “Ay Mamá” “a hymn to the breast.”
When it came time to choose Spain’s participation in the World Cup, many people had doubts about the selection process and how the results were released.
Antón Gómez Reino, the spokesman for Galicia’s Podemos chapter, called for “complete openness” on Spanish broadcaster RTVE.
