This Rule Is Known as The “tuck.”
When the Oakland Raiders played the New England Patriots on Jan. 19, 2002, Tom Brady, the Patriots quarterback at the time, was the subject of a controversy that would spark debate over NFL regulations for years to come.
Charles Woodson, a cornerback for the Raiders, tackled Brady in the fourth quarter with the team leading 13-10. Raiders linebacker Greg Biekert first seemed to fumble the ball after Brady dropped it.
An official assessment ruled that Brady had stopped the passing motion and was “tucking backward” the ball. According to the rules in effect at the time, the play was called a fumble and was instead judged an incomplete throw.
The Patriots were able to advance all the way to field goal range before making their attempt. The Patriots prevailed 16-13 in extra time over the Raiders.

Deflategate
During the AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts in 2015, Brady was implicated in the Deflategate affair after it was alleged that he had deliberately ordered the balls to be deflated. Blount’s 148 yards and three scores on the ground were important in the Patriots’ 45-7 victory. In addition, Brady threw three touchdowns in the game.

Spygate
The NFL accused the Patriots of improperly recording the New York Jets play-call signals following a 2007 game.
The NFL fined the team $250,000 after conducting an inquiry. The Patriots head coach, Bill Belichick, was fined $500,000. The fines were paid and the squad proceeded on with the season, making no public admission of any wrongdoing on their part.
Though Brady was not directly involved in the alleged conduct, guiding the Patriots to an undefeated season and a Super Bowl loss of 17-14 to the Giants, he was instrumental in their accomplishment.

Camouflage for The Massage Parlor of Brady’s
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had a brief surprise appearance in the first episode of Paul Rudd’s Netflix series “Living With Yourself” in 2019. The cameo shows Brady leaving a massage parlor in a strip mall and asking Rudd’s character whether it’s the first time they’ve been there.
Before asking Brady, Rudd’s character exclaims, “uh-huh.” When asked how many Super Bowls he has won, Brady shrugs his shoulders and responds, “six.”
Brady later disputed the sequence was designed to be about Kraft and his legal difficulties, although it appears the cameo by Brady had been planned long before Kraft’s massage parlor scandal was exposed.
In an interview with reporters, Brady said, “That’s not what that was about,” according to ESPN. “This was taken out of context, exactly like you’re trying to make it a story for yourself, which has a negative connotation that I don’t like. It wasn’t meant to be that way at all. A distraction, or the fact that you’re bringing it up, is not something I want to discuss.”

With five Super Bowl MVP awards, Brady has more Super Bowl rings than any other team in the NFL. In addition to his 15 Pro Bowl appearances, three All-Pro selections, three MVP honors, and his selection to the Hall of Fame’s All-Decade Team for the 2000s and 2010s, he also played in the AFC Championship Game.
