Rapper PnB Rock was shot on Monday, September 12 at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles in the Inglewood district of Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Times.
When contacted by Billboard, the Los Angeles Police Department has not yet named the 30-year-old “I Like Girls” rapper as the victim, but officers did confirm that shooting and possibly a robbery took place at the restaurant around 1:23 p.m. PT.
The victim, who was described as a Black male, was taken to the hospital, although it is unclear what his current health status is.
Rock’s (Rakim Hasheem Allen) representatives have been contacted by Billboard to confirm the information.
Rock’s girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, shared a snapshot of the Instagram Story photo showing the pair eating at Roscoe’s earlier in the day and later removed it. Someone posted a gruesome video on Twitter purporting to show the rapper on the ground after being shot.
TrapStar Turnt PopStar, PnB Rock’s eagerly anticipated official debut album, was released in 2019. “In no way am I an overnight success. I worked hard, and now it’s my turn,” he said at the time to Billboard.
At one point in my career, I was one of the mothers—ers who paid to perform. I paid a couple of hundred dollars to appear on that stage during SXSW at least twice.
The star’s collaborations on Billboard Hot 100 hits including Meek Mill’s “Dangerous” and YFN Lucci’s “Everyday We Lit” led to the release of the album.
When asked about making an album after gaining so much attention, he said, “That she- is a lot of pressure — I can’t lie, it was starting to get to me.” I genuinely wanted [the fans] to be aware that I was working on something for them. It’ll be worthwhile.
Rapper Russ and others turned to social media after hearing about the incident to pray for PnB Rock.
