The famous tag team leader of the Briscoe Brothers and two-time ROH World Champion has passed away. On Wednesday, the world was left shocked at the tragic news of the untimely death of professional wrestler Jamin Pugh or better known by the world as Jay Briscoe. He was just 38 years old. This development was communicated on Twitter by Tony Khan, CEO of All Elite Wrestling and owner of ROH.
“Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away,” Khan wrote. “Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today. Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day.
“We’ll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin.”
Although the reason behind his untimely death has not been confirmed yet, but it is speculated to be a fatal car crash accident in Laurel, Delaware. Local police tweeted about an accident there although no names were provided.
“Due to a fatal accident, Laurel Road near Little Hill Road will be blocked for a considerable amount of time” a notification made by the local Police read.
Additionally, Laurel District School posted on Facebook that the initial reports are credible.
“The Laurel School District will be closed on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 as a result of an unspeakable tragedy that occurred in our community this evening. Schools will reopen on Thursday. Please Keep the Pugh family in your prayers and thoughts” the post read.

With his brother Mark Briscoe, Jay Briscoe held the ROH World Tag Team Championship on countless occasions and was a two-time ROH World Champion. Jay Briscoe was a Ring of Honor (ROH) signee. He was renowned for his hard-hitting, high-flying wrestling style.
He has been a part of Ring of Honor (ROH) since the organization’s foundation in 2002. He has also competed for other organisations, including Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), and Pro Wrestling Noah and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

After the veteran’s untimely death, CM Punk, Chris Jericho, and a number of other celebrities paid tribute to him. A sentimental tweet was also posted by FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler), who competed in numerous epic matches against the legendary tag team.
The most recent show of NXT featured a segment from WWE where commentators Booker T and Vic Joseph discussed Briscoe’s passing and expressed their sympathies. Triple H, the chief content officer for WWE, also paid a moving ode to the former ROH World Champion.
