Grey’s Anatomy is one of the most popular American TV series. It is popular for its medical drama genre and a relatable depiction of the lives of surgical interns, residents, and attendees as they develop into seasoned doctors while balancing personal and professional relationships.

The series also has a record of being the longest-running primetime medical drama in TV history since it premiered in March 2005. The show is currently on its 19th season. And, as per the reports, the fans are to have another surprise.

Grey’s Anatomy Upcoming Season

Grey’s Anatomy is currently in its 19th season. The season finale is scheduled to air on May 18th, 2023. With the record already set for the longest-running primetime medical drama, the show is completing its 19 seasons!

But for fans who are still not ready to bid the show goodbye, it looks like you don’t have to. The show will return for season 20 as well.

It is expected to be released in July 2023. So all the fans who are reluctant to bid adios to their favorite show don’t have a reason to do so.

However, the new season sure has some reforms. It looks like the creators are bringing you a renewed Grey’s Anatomy.

The Changes in Grey’s Anatomy Season 20

The network revealed that executive producer Meg Marinis will take over as showrunner for the upcoming season in place of Krista Vernoff, who is leaving.

Grey's Anatomy

Since Season 15, Marinis has served as an executive producer on Grey’s Anatomy. She began working on the program as a writer’s production assistant in Season 3 and progressed to staff writer before becoming an EP.

During this time, she has written a total of 35 episodes. She will succeed Vernoff, who declared her resignation from Grey’s and Station 19 back in January.

It has been the privilege of a lifetime to be entrusted to run Grey’s Anatomy for the past six years and Station 19 for the last four,” Vernoff said in a statement.

The passion of the dedicated fandoms and the impact that these shows have on hearts and minds cannot be overstated. The amount of talent in these two extraordinary casts and these two brilliant writers’ rooms is beyond measure — and these crews work magic week after week.

Grey’s Anatomy Over the Years

In front of the camera, Grey’s has also experienced a change in leadership: Series star Ellen Pompeo is no longer a full-time cast member, and her final episode as a series regular aired last month.

She is expected to make sporadic appearances as Meredith Grey, including the season finale in May and at least one episode before that.

To portray the new class of first-year surgical residents, several new actors were placed in the present cast at the beginning of Season 19.

Along with Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey, Kevin McKidd as Owen Hunt, Kim Raver as Teddy Altman, Kelly McCreary as Maggie Pierce, Anthony Hill as Winston Ndugu, Caterina Scorsone as Amelia Shepherd, Camilla Luddington as Jo Wilson, Chris Carmack as Link Lincoln, and Jake Borelli as Levi Schmitt are other regulars.

Conclusion

For all the Grey’s Anatomy fans who were sad about the show’s end in May 2023, the show doesn’t stop with its 19th season.

The 20th season is already decided and will be airing in July 2023.

Stay tuned to get all the updates.
