Glenn Corbett was an American actor who contributed greatly to Hollywood for over three decades. He gained widespread recognition when he took George Maharis’ place in the cast of the well-known CBS action drama Route 66 in the early 1960s.

A guest appearance in the original Star Trek series, The Doctors, Dallas, and movies like Chisum with John Wayne, playing one of Jimmy Stewart’s sons in Shenandoah, and the World War II epic Midway were among the high-profile roles he went on to play after this.

He met his wife Judy at Occidental College in Los Angeles after serving in the US Navy as a Seabee, and with her support, he started performing in student productions. A talent scout noticed him, and Columbia Pictures offered him a contract. When he was younger, Corbett modeled for photographer Bob Mizer.

The Crimson Kimono (1959) served as Corbett’s feature film debut, and he went on to play minor parts in The Mountain Road, Man on a String (1960), and All the Young Men. (all 1960).

He played the lead in William Castle’s suspense thriller Homicidal (1961), and in the Civil War drama Shenandoah, he was chosen to play one of Jimmy Stewart’s character’s kids. (1965).

He played Pat Garrett opposite John Wayne in Chisum (1970), among other movies. He appeared alongside Wayne once more in Big Jake (1971). He was later seen in the films Midway and Nashville Girl (1976).

His career took off and he became a household name. However, the veteran actor died too early.

The Death of Corbett

Glenn passed away on January 16, 1993. He was at the Veterans Administration hospital in San Antonio, Texas during his last moments. He was buried in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.

Glenn had been fighting lung cancer in his last few years. Unfortunately, the actor lost his battle with the disease.
