Brandon Cole Margera was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, on September 28, 1979. The nephew of Vincent Margera, he’s Jess’ younger brother. His grandfather gave him the moniker “Bam Bam” because of his habit of deliberately running into walls as a child. As time went on, the nickname “Bam” was abbreviated to “Bam.” After his junior year at West Chester East High School, he dropped out. Afterward, he worked hard to earn his GED.

On his way to becoming a professional skateboarder, Margera worked as an endorser for Toy Machine Skateboards from 1997 to 1998. Despite having been a member of Element Skateboards’ 2001 demonstration squad, he was no longer a member as of 2016.

Speed Metal bearings, Adio Footwear, Electric Sunglasses, Volcom, and Landspeed Wheels are just a few of the firms that have sponsored him throughout the years. With no major sponsorships, Margera has effectively retired from skating as of 2017.

Film and Television Career

To begin with, Margera started filming himself doing tricks while skating with his pals. CKY, an independent video series, was born. Members of the CKY Crew were featured in these early videos, which established a loose collective of people. In addition to Ryan Dunn, Brandon DiCamillo and Rake Yohn were all members of the CKY Crew.

Jeff Tremaine, the editor of the skateboarding magazine Big Brother, was impressed with Margera’s CKY footage. Margera was selected by Tremaine to join the group that would go on to star in MTV’s Jackass reality series, with the rest of the CKY crew filling out the rest of the parts.

From October 2000 until February 2002, Margera was not only a regular co-star on Jackass, but he also starred in several other Jackass-related ventures. Successfully exploiting his fame from the film and television series Jackass allowed him to pursue other projects. Viva La Bam, which aired on MTV from 2003 to 2005, was based on Margera and his crew conducting stunts and missions around his hometown of West Chester.

Margera’s stunts were also filmed in New Orleans, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, as well as in Brazil, Finland, Mexico, and the Netherlands. Bam’s Unholy Union, a follow-up to Viva La Bam, was filmed by MTV as well (2007). Margera, his then-fiancée Melissa Rothstein, and their many pals were the focus of the show’s central premise as they prepared for their wedding.

While Margera is best known for his work on the Jackass series and other television productions, he has also acted in and produced several indie films. Haggard (2003) was based on genuine events in Ryan Dunn’s life, with Dunn playing himself in the lead part and Margera portraying the character “Valo.”

He was engaged to Jenn Rivell for seven years, but their engagement ended in 2005. Jenn appeared in many of Margera’s early productions. When he proposed to childhood friend Melissa “Missy” Rothstein, the MTV series “Bam’s Unholy Union” recorded their wedding preparations and ceremony.

In November of last year, they announced their separation. Since their wedding on October 5th, 2013, Margera and Nicole Boyd have had one child, a son, who was born in December of 2017.

Real Estate

Bam purchased a 14-acre property in West Chester, Pennsylvania, for $1.195 million in January 2004. “Castle Bam” is the name given to the property that he has worked hard to transform over the years. The property has an indoor skatepark, swimming pool, barn with a music stage, BMX track, and more, all of which were significantly featured in his show “Viva La Bam.”

Due to Bam’s other properties in the region, Castle Bam is sometimes available for events and for rent through Airbnb.
