James Corden, a TV host, and actor, has discussed his decision to leave The Late Late Show after eight years as host.

In an interview with BBC radio journalist Zoe Ball, the Gavin and Stacey star said he had “never felt like this before” as he prepared to tape his final episode of the US chat show.

The actor revealed to Zoe that his rise to international fame was all because of The Late Late Show, calling it “consistent” throughout his life.

James replied, “It’s a strange one, I haven’t really felt like this before.” when asked how he felt when filming the series finale.

“When we were filming the final episode of Gavin and Stacey, I remember sitting with Ruth Jones and crying. However, we did that in blocks; we’d film a scene, then leave for a while and return to finish it.

“But the Late Late Show has been pretty consistent, it’s been 8 years, and tomorrow will be the 100th show – crazy!”

‘I feel comfortable about it, knowing in my core it’s the correct thing to do for so many personal and professional reasons,’ he concluded.

James Corden's Emotional Goodbye To The Late Late Show

There’s been a terrific vibe on set, and tomorrow’s shoot is looking fantastic, so we’re going out with a bang. I don’t want to spend the day in tears but rather filled with pride and thankfulness.

James reflected on the concert’s success, which saw him collaborate with guests such as Adele and Prince Harry, saying, “The response to the show has been extraordinary, online and internationally.” There were times when I doubted its viability.

“I’m not American enough to host a late-night talk show; I was born and raised in High Wycombe!” It’s a path not taken by many. What a wonderful journey it has been!

James’s goodbye to the show included a special Carpool Karaoke performance with his best friend Adele. Viewers could see the two break down in tears as they talked about him leaving the show.

James also claimed that he had no idea Adele would be his last guest on the legendary feature, saying, “We have the show with Adele’s carpool, which is a carpool that I didn’t know would happen.” I watched it, and it made me feel so good; she really went to all that trouble for us.

It’s incredible that our families are so interwoven and that we’ve known one another for so long. Unbelievable! She actually came through for us!
