Andrew Tate has sent a cryptic tweet stating “the Matrix has attacked me” amid rumours that he has been rushed to the hospital. Tate, a social media star, will appear in court next week after being arrested in Romania.

The former professional kickboxer turned controversial internet celebrity, and his brother Tristan, who grew up in Luton, Bedfordshire, was held in the nation last week as part of a human trafficking and rape probe. One of the brothers was sent to the hospital on Friday after a “regular medical check,” according to Romanian news station Antena 3 CNN.

Tate afterwards tweeted a link to the article along with a mysterious comment. He wrote: “The Matrix has attacked me. But they misunderstand, you cannot kill an idea. Hard to kill.”

DIICOT said in a statement, without naming the Tates, that two British people and two Romanians were suspected of being part of a criminal organisation centred on human trafficking. They are scheduled to appear in a Bucharest court next week to have their arguments against a judge’s decision to extend their arrest warrants from 24 hours to 30 days considered, according to DIICOT.

According to the directorate, six wounded persons have been identified in connection with the probe, one of whom is believed to have been viciously sexually assaulted in March. According to DIICOT, some of the suspects reportedly employed the “loverboy” form of trafficking, which entails a guy seducing a victim into a relationship in order to sexually abuse them afterwards.

Tate competed in the UK edition of Big Brother in 2016 and was sent out due to a video that claimed to show him hitting a lady with a belt. He then attracted notice for his social media presence and was banned from Twitter the following year for suggesting women should “carry responsibility” for being sexually attacked. He was restored on the platform last month.

Last year, he remarked on the Anything Goes with James English podcast, “I will state right now that I am utterly sexist and absolutely misogynist.” Tate and his brother have been under investigation since April, along with two Romanian nationals.
