Star Trek: Strange New Worlds had an amazing first season last summer, but news on the show’s second season has been scarce since then. Fans have been wondering when they’ll be seeing Captain Pike (Anson Mount) and the lovely crew of the USS Enterprise again, and now Paramount has a response: the crew will return to the bridge on June 15, just in time for summer.
Strange New Worlds Season 1 concluded on a cliffhanger, with the captain’s sometimes-girlfriend appearing to arrest Commander Una Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn) when they uncovered her unlawful Illyrian background.
In the season finale, a young Captain Kirk (Paul Wesley) made his first appearance in an alternate timeline analyzing a possible future in which Pike does not die in the accident.
When Wesley’s casting was confirmed earlier this year, Paramount said that he had been cast in the show’s second season. Given that we encounter this version of Kirk over a decade in the future, the circumstances surrounding his Season 2 return are going to be intriguing, to say the least!
Season 2 of Star Trek: Odd New Worlds Has a Release Date
On March 28, Paramount+ announced that Star Trek: New Worlds Season 2 would release this summer on Thursday, June 15. The 10-episode season will premiere fresh episodes on Thursdays.

On Star Trek Day, September 8, Paramount+ released the first look at Season 2 with a clip of Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia), who is typically locked aboard the ship as a pilot, ecstatic to be accompanying the landing party on a mission. Let’s just say things don’t go as planned.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Cast
The majority of the primary actors will return for Season 2. Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Christina Chong, Ceila Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, and Jess Bush all play their respective characters. Nevertheless, barring a flashback or a miracle resurrection, we’ve likely seen the last of Bruce Horak’s Hemmer, who sadly died in the season’s penultimate episode, shattering our hearts.
Paul Wesley will return as Captain James Kirk in Season 2 — that’s what he was initially cast for; his presence in the Season 1 finale was merely a wonderful additional surprise — but in what capacity is unknown.
In terms of new cast members, anticipate a new engineer to replace Hemmer, as well as comedy icon Carol Kane (Taxi), who has been hired as the recurring role of Pelia, an engineer who “suffers no fools” and “solves problems quietly and brusquely,” according to a press release from Paramount+. We don’t believe she’s the new regular engineer character based on her recurring status.
