Who is Christine McVie?
Christine McVie was born on July 12, 1943. Her mother Beatrice Edith was a medium and psychic, while her father Cyril Percy taught music at St. Peter’s College of Education in Birmingham.
Before bassist John McVie joined, guitarists Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, and Mick Fleetwood formed Fleetwood Mac in London in 1967.
Christine Perfect, a keyboardist, later wed McVie and joined in 1970. Peter Green served as the best man during Christine McVie’s 1968 wedding to John McVie. They continued to play in the band even after getting divorced in 1976.
How did she pass away?
She was in the presence of her family when she passed away. A statement from her family said, “It is with a heavy heart we are informing you of Christine’s death. She passed away peacefully at hospital this morning, Wednesday, November 30th 2022, following a short illness.”
Fleetwood Mac paid tribute to McVie in a statement posted on Twitter, following the news of her death.
Speaking to Rolling Stones in June, McVie revealed that the band members were no longer in touch, and essentially were on a break. She said, “I don’t feel physically up for it, I’m in quite bad health. I’ve got a chronic back problem which debilitates me.”
During his performance on Thursday night in Chile, Harry Styles also paid tribute to the late Christine McVie.
One of the few songs that McVie wrote by herself was the beautiful acoustic ballad “Songbird,” which was performed by him.
In the same way, many fans and stars have been mourning the loss of this musical legend who left behind a legacy in her footsteps.
The most notable would be the handwritten letter written by her best friend and fellow band member Stevie Nicks.
