The Last of Us will make a big impression on TV and video game fans. How long is the first season, and how many episodes does it have?
There are few video games in the world today that are as popular as The Last of Us. If you’re a gamer, chances are you’ve at least had a conversation about it at some point. It’s so relevant in the gaming world, and has been for some time.
It will become much more relevant in another realm of entertainment: television. HBO has adapted the series for the screen and it will premiere on Sunday, January 15 at 9:00 p.m. EST on cable channel and HBO Max streaming service.
Understandably, there are fears that The Last of Us could end up on the list of failed video game adaptations, but if the reviews are good, that won’t happen anytime soon.
If you’re ready for the series to become your new Sunday night obsession, here’s how long you can expect the first season to last.
How many episodes of The Last of Us are there?
The 1st season of The Last of Us will consist of nine episodes. All will air on Sunday nights for the next eight weeks, with “When You’re Lost in Darkness” premiering at 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, January 15, 2023.
Initially, there were rumours that the first season would have 10 episodes, but it turns out that there will actually be nine episodes. It could have something to do with its first episode being oversized (and therefore no need for a tenth episode), but it could also just be rumors.
The Last of Us stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey and is expected to be one of the year’s biggest shows.
Casting of Last of Us
The casting was conducted online via Zoom because of the COVID-19 epidemic. Druckmann announced that numerous game characters, including Ellie, Riley, Tess, Marlene, and Maria, will appear on the show on March 8, 2020, International Women’s Day. Pascal and Ramsey were cast as Joel and Ellie on February 10, 2021.
Today’s news included a claim that Mahershala Ali was given the Joel part after Matthew McConaughey declined it. All of the actresses considered for Ellie for the canceled film adaptation – such as Maisie Williams and Kaitlyn Dever – had aged out of consideration by the time the series was produced, leading to rehiring of candidates.
The producers were primarily looking for actors who could play Joel and Ellie individually and mimic their relationship. 2:42 PM Pascal and Ramsey didn’t meet until filming began, but they found there was an instant chemistry between them that evolved over time. the course of manufacture.
