Let us tell you that, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday launched a mobile app developed by MapmyIndia in collaboration with IIT, Madras, which will alert users about every black spot coming so that the drivers can take precautions.

Road Safety Alerts: GPS App for Hazards
Through audible and visual notifications, the GPS app service alerts drivers about approaching potholes, speed traps, sharp curves, and other dangers. The road transport ministry is planning for this as part of efforts to reduce accidents and fatalities from traffic incidents nationwide.
IRad: Data-Driven Road Safety for Safer Roads
A data-driven road safety model created by academics at IIT Madras with support from the World Bank was officially adopted by the road ministry last month. The Institute’s cutting-edge Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD) methodology will be used by more than 32 states and union territories to make roads safer and enhance emergency response.
The IIT team has partnered with various state governments to reduce the number of fatalities in traffic accidents by 50% by 2030 and to zero by that time. He will create a roadmap for this.
IRad: Crowdsourcing Road Safety Through Accidents Reporting
Through the app, users and authorities may report accidents, dangerous locations, and traffic problems. IIT, Madras will analyze this data, and the government will utilize it to improve road conditions in the future, the official continued.
This resembles a computerized accident alarm board, according to Prof. Venkatesh Balasubramanian of IIT Madras’ engineering design department. It’s an effort to warn the general public about accident hotspots on the highways.
