Chris Johnson wants to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and his former teammate assures him that it will happen.
Chris Johnson is one of the 129 candidates for induction into the Hall of Fame in 2023; however, his former teammate LenDale White assures Johnson that he need not worry, as the latter will receive a bust in Canton this coming summer.
One of the greatest running backs in NFL history, CJ2K, was finally nominated for the HOF this week, joining the likes of Joe Thomas and Darrelle Revis and 128 other former greats.
Johnson stopped by the TMZ office with White the day after hearing the good news, and he was ecstatic, saying that he was confident that this would lead to him receiving the call to the Hall of Fame by the end of the season.
The fact that he was even nominated was a blessing, he said. “I’m crossing my fingers that I can make it to the end. What happens next is up in the air.”
But White, who spent 2008 and 2009 on the field with Johnson and the Titans, says the former great doesn’t have to worry too much about it, as the 37-year-old will make it this year.
White predicted, confidently, that he would succeed in his endeavors. So to speak, “I mean, I feel that way.”
Johnson spent a decade in the NFL, during which time he rushed for 9,651 yards and scored 64 touchdowns. With 2,006 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2009, he had one of the best seasons ever for a running back.
White and Johnson agree those stats are enough to get him in, though they concede there would be no debate if he had played for a few more years and racked up even more impressive numbers.
But Johnson claimed he was content with his life and career choices.
For the class of ’23, the first round of eliminations will occur in the month of November. Finalists will be announced in January.
While he waits for the phone to ring, Johnson will keep White company by listening to their podcast, “Smash & Dash,” in which they discuss football as well as “a whole lot of other topics,” including dating.
