Early Life
On January 3, 1969, in the town of Hürth, West Germany, Michael Schumacher entered the world. He inherited his father’s and mother’s racing genes and was born with the speed in his veins. At age four, Michael’s father retrofitted his pedal kart with a little motorcycle engine.
With their aid, he joined the Karting club at the Kerpen-Horrem track and quickly became the youngest member. At the tender age of six, Schumacher was crowned champion of his club. He kept racing karts throughout his childhood and into his teenage years, amassing a number of victories in national and international competitions around Germany and Europe.

Schumacher’s 1999 season was cut short after he shattered his leg in a crash at the British Grand Prix. This was the lone injury of Schumacher’s whole career. When the entire 1998 year was tallied, he finished second.

After finishing second in the 2006 championship and adding seven more race victories to his career total of 91, the legend was still at the height of his powers. There had never been a more dominant champion, but he was bored of being the best and wanted to call it quits. The year 2006 marked the conclusion of Schumacher’s time at Ferrari.
However, his retirement turned out to be only temporary. Michael Schumacher, then 41 years old, took a three-year hiatus to serve as a Ferrari consultant before giving in to the temptation of driving for the new Mercedes squad managed by Ross Brawn in 2010.
His three-year comeback was marked by a lack of success, as he never finished higher than third place. Schumacher announced his second retirement in October 2012, following his first retirement in 2005.
Personal Life
The couple tied the knot in August 1995. Gina-Marie (born in 1997), a daughter, and Mick (born in 2002) are their two children (b. 1999). Michael had been determined from the start that his private life be kept out of the limelight.
