In a significant legal outcome, a 24-year-old man from Kansas City, Kansas, G’Ante Butler, was recently found guilty by a federal jury for his involvement in a retaliatory shooting incident that caused injuries to three individuals, including a federal task force officer, back in 2020.

Butler faced charges of forcibly assaulting a federal law enforcement officer and employing a firearm to perpetrate a crime of violence, as evidenced by court documents and trial proceedings.

The incident unfolded on August 3, 2020, when Kansas City, Kansas police responded to reports of gunfire in the 5100 block of Farrow Avenue, occurring at the suspect’s parents’ residence. Later that day, ATF special agents and deputized task force officers apprehended one suspect involved in the earlier shooting at a residence on North Allis Street.

Investigation findings revealed that Butler and his associates orchestrated the shooting in retaliation to the earlier altercation on Farrow Avenue, intending to target individuals at the North Allis Street residence.

During the probe, law enforcement recovered a substantial amount of evidence, including 101 casings and two live rounds from an alley west of the targeted North Allis Street residence. The recovered casings spanned various calibers, including 9mm, .40 caliber, .45 caliber, 5.56 caliber, and 7.62 caliber.

Additionally, three other suspects – Nadarius Barnes (24), Chase Lewis (23), and Donnell L. Hall (28), all residents of KCK – have admitted guilt individually to charges of forcibly assaulting a federal law enforcement officer and using a firearm in the commission of a violent crime.
