In an Instagram post on Wednesday, singer Ed Sheeran announced that his wife Cherry Seaborn was diagnosed with a tumour while carrying the couple’s second child. With a lengthy tweet, Sheeran announced his new album, “Subtract,” which he said contained his “deepest darkest thoughts.”

In less than a month, my wife was diagnosed with a tumour when she was pregnant, and there would be no way to treat her until after the baby was born, Sheeran wrote.

“In May, the 32-year-old announced that he and his wife, Seaborn, had given birth to a baby daughter. Lyra, the couple’s 2-year-old daughter, completes their family.

As a result, Sheeran rarely discusses his family life on social media and fans rarely see photos of Seaborn. As reported by BBC News, the couple tied the knot in 2019. The tweet did not provide any information about his wife’s condition, but CBS News has sought out for more information.

Sheeran detailed further hardships he endured throughout the last year in his article. ‘My dearest buddy Jamal, a brother to me, passed away abruptly,’ he wrote. According to BBC News, it was British entrepreneur Jamal Edwards, through his media business SBTV, who gave Sheeran his big break. His family reported his death from a “sudden illness” in February 2022, when he was 31 years old.

Ed Sheeran Career

With his 2017 song “Shape of You,” Sheeran was sued on the grounds that he had copied the work of another musician, Sami Switch. “I found myself standing in court defending my integrity and career as a composer,” Sheeran stated. In April of 2022, Sheeran was found not guilty.

“I was in the midst of a downward spiral of worry, sadness, and terror. It was as if I were underwater trying to claw my way to the top for breath “He didn’t leave his position, either. The events of 2022, Sheeran claimed, altered his life, mental health, and perspective on music and art, even though he had been working on “Subtract” for a decade. This led him to rewrite the entire record with what he calls his “deepest darkest thoughts” approximately a week ago.

He described the process of making music as therapeutic, saying, “I basically composed whatever spilled out” when making this album. For the first time in my adult life, I’m not attempting to build an album people will enjoy; instead, I’m only releasing something that’s honest and genuine to where I am at this point in my life.

According to BBC News, the album will be released on May 5. Following in the footsteps of its predecessors “Plus,” “Multiply,” “Divide,” and “Equals,” “Subtract” is the latest in a string of albums with a mathematical bent.”
