The serial stalker and murderer Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) relocated to London for season four of the wildly successful drama series You, where he adopted a new identity as a literature professor, made friends with a bunch of filthy rich people, and became involved in a high society murder mystery straight out of an Agatha Christie book while attempting to fight his compulsive attraction to ice queen Kate (Charlotte Ritchie).
The second half of Season 4 is currently available to stream on Netflix, and it concludes Joe’s exploits in the United Kingdom in the tense, gore-soaked manner we’ve come to expect from the show. Fans are already anticipating the return of the monologuing murder maestro.
Every season of You brings Joe Goldberg to a fresh setting. He stalked Beck in New York during season 1. In season 2, Joe relocated to Los Angeles and developed a love obsession. Joe and Love’s foray into suburban life in season 3 upended things, and now in season 4, Joe has fled his old life by traveling to London under a new alias.
Will You return for Season 5?
You’s fifth season renewal by Netflix hasn’t been officially announced, and the streaming behemoth’s recent trend of canceling hit shows is worrying. In spite of this, You has been a major success for the platform since Netflix bought the rights to it after Lifetime canceled it. And should a fifth season be approved, preparations are already underway.
In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Sera Gamble said, “We have an idea for season five that we’re enthused about. That really sends a frenzy among the fans who are looking forward to season 5.
Who will be cast for You Season 5?
With Penn Badgley’s Joe beginning anew in a new location as he tries to put his past behind him, each new season of You serves as a soft relaunch of the program. Fans will have a brand-new supporting cast to get to know if Netflix launches a new season.
We would hope that Penn Badgley would return because we can’t ever envision a season of You without him as Joe.
After leaving behind characters like Love and Ryan from season three, you essentially presented a brand-new cast for Joe in London in season 4. Nonetheless, it appears that the plotlines for the majority of the new characters are wrapped up in season four.
It’s unlikely that either Lady Phoebe (Tilly Keeper) or Nadia (Amy-Leigh Hickman) would return because Lady Phoebe has found her new purpose in life in Asia and Nadia is currently incarcerated. But, a scenario in which Nadia pursues Joe and exacts her retribution is entirely conceivable.
Even if Marienne (played by Tati Gabrielle) makes an appearance in season four, it’s unlikely that she’ll ever want to come within 10 miles of Joe given how things ended with Marienne.
We’d absolutely like to see Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) return as Joe’s girlfriend if season five were to happen now that they both reside in New York.
What will be the plot of You season 5?
We have some ideas, but it’s currently difficult to determine what a potential fifth season of You might center on.
Joe and Kate were residing in New York at the end of season four. Joe had managed to avoid being charged with murder and was preparing to “save” the world with Kate.
He asserts in a televised appearance that he was forced to fake his death as a result of an abusive relationship with Love. It’s unclear exactly how much of Joe’s past Kate is aware of though. It’s unknown how much of Joe’s background Kate is aware of.
If season five were to air, we might anticipate it to depict their contented and joyful life in New York, at least until Joe murders another person, of course.
Is season 5 of You scheduled to air at any point?
We don’t know about a release date since we do not know whether You will have a fifth season or not. Yet we can make an educated guess as to when it might be considering the prior release dates.
You’s fourth season was officially confirmed in October 2021, and production will start in March 2022. In February 2023, the first installment of the new series will be released, followed by the second half in March 2023.
If season five follows a similar course, we may presumably anticipate its release in the summer of 2024, assuming it is confirmed.
