Netflix has once again left its viewers in a state of total confusion with the release of a new thriller mystery Spanish drama series The Snow Girl( Spanish: La chica de nieve) on January 27, 2023.
The drama is based on the novel “La chica de nieve” by Javier Castillo. The series revolves around an intern journalist, Miren Rojo who is set on finding the whereabouts of a little girl, Amaya who got lost during the 2010 Cavalcade of Magi in Málaga.
“The Snow Girl”: The Plot
Miren Rojo, an intern journalist at Sur feels the pain of Amaya’s parents, Alvaro and Martin and Ana Martin, as it reminds her of her case and the pain of which is very much with her till now.
With the help of a veteran journalist, Eduardo, she gets focussed on solving the case, and as she gets more and more involved in the case new mysteries emerge and the viewers are left with nothing but a mind full of hows, buts, and whens.
Though initially, the editor refused Miren to work on the case, she didn’t give up and asked to give her a chance as she has very particular insights about the case. With the help of a veteran journalist, Eduardo she manages to become a part of that case and finds out a police file report that shows the girl’s raincoat was found, along with the name, Inspector Belén Millán
Miren is very familiar with the name as she was the lead detective in a case where Miren was a victim and whose memories are still very fresh. That particular case involving Miren is still open and that’s the reason why Miren so desperately wanted to be a part of this particular case as she feels the pain of Amaya’s parents.
And thus like this, the story continues unfolding more and more mysteries and the involvement of Miren in the case. The constant question of whether Miren’s case gets solved with the help of Amaya’s case or vice-versa will make the viewers stream it till the very end episode.
The story jumps back and forth between three timelines and thus it reminds us of The Missing and Dark, where the timelines are so beautifully stitched that the viewers really have to put their whole mind to keep a track of what actually is happening or just happened.
“The Snow Girl” Amazing Cast: Stream It
“The Snow Girl” is beautifully directed by David Ulloa and Laura Alvea staring Milena Smit as Miren and Jose Coronado as Eduardo. Milena has done justice to Miren’s character. As the show jumps back and forth between three timelines it becomes really difficult to keep a track of what timeline we actually are in.
But the viewers need not worry as the show works and proceeds with Miren’s perspective and perhaps her personality, appearance, and looks will make the timelines apart.
The show is a must-watch and one should definitely stream it firstly because of its theme that runs between three timelines, and we can see a number of shows with amazing stories based on the same theme, and secondly, because of its story full of mystery, pain, loss, and suspense.
The Snow Girl and many other such stories reflect the theme of time being the ultimate game changer and also provide a new perspective in the minds of people that there is no such thing as past, present, or future and that it’s all a circular chain of time.
