Around 10 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 5500 block of East St. John Avenue, initially described as a shooting incident upon updated information received while en route, as conveyed by Captain Corey Carlisle, a spokesperson for the department.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered an adult male victim of a gunshot wound lying on the northern sidewalk. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene, adding to the string of violent incidents in the city.

Detectives are actively seeking witnesses and examining surveillance footage in the vicinity to gather crucial information, yet as of Wednesday night, no suspect had been identified, and the circumstances leading to the shooting remained elusive.
