When it comes to his audiences’ security, Travis Scott isn’t taking any chances. Due to worries about his safety, the “Goosebumps” rapper canceled his performance on Monday.
After initially being labeled only as a “live DJ,” Scott entered the stage with Meek Mill at the Coney Island Art Walls’ Independence Day celebration and delivered an impromptu set, according to TMZ.
A few concertgoers climbed up the metal lighting truss and scaffolding to obtain a better look while others dangled perilously on the metal framework due to the crowded conditions of the outdoor event during his performance.
After noticing the fans on the truss, Scott abruptly called an end to the performance and ordered everyone to leave. Attendees complied, and the performance continued.
Just a few days earlier, Travis Scott was scheduled to headline his first concert following the Astroworld catastrophe in November 2021, which claimed the lives of ten people. Scott’s performance at the Coney Island event, however, came just days after that.
The Day N Vegas festival, however, reported that the annual event had been postponed owing to “a combination of logistics, schedule, and production challenges” on Friday.
The festival said that “the reimbursement process would begin immediately,” without going into any detail as to why the event had to be postponed.
It’s true that the Houston native already has a headline slot at Primavera Sound Festival lined up, but that gig is only for the South American leg in November, which will take place in Brazil, Chile, and Argentina.
