Cardi B, the winner of multiple Grammy Awards, pleaded guilty on Thursday to two misdemeanours related to an altercation that occurred at a New York City strip club in 2018, according to prosecutors. She was given a 15-day community service term.
Cardi B, real name Belcalis Almanzar, has also agreed to a three-year order of protection for the victims. She pleaded guilty to two charges: third-degree assault and reckless endangerment (both of the second-degree variety).
When the rapper Cardi B got into an argument with two of the club’s bartenders in 2018, a fight broke out, according to the police report. That’s the one she said had an affair with her husband, she said.
The victims “supposedly had glass bottles smashed at them, alcoholic drinks thrown in their faces, and one woman’s head slammed into the bar,” authorities said earlier.
The rapper was charged with criminal assault over the incident, but he pled not guilty in 2019. The singer, whose hits include “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It,” was indicted on felony charges in 2019 alongside two members of her entourage.
After his hearing on Thursday, the rapper released a statement in which he said, “Part of growing up and maturing is being accountable for your acts.” The mother continued, “It’s a habit I’m trying to teach in my children, but the example starts with me.”
