Matt Pobereyko is an American baseball pitcher who was born on December 15, 1992, in San Diego, California. He attended the University of Kentucky, where he played college baseball for the Kentucky Wildcats. He was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 22nd round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft.
Pobereyko began his professional career with the Diamondbacks’ rookie-level team, the Missoula Osprey, in 2013. He made 15 relief appearances and posted a 4.50 ERA. The following season, he moved up to the short-season A-level Hillsboro Hops and had a solid campaign, posting a 2.93 ERA in 23 relief appearances.

In 2015, Pobereyko played for the Kane County Cougars of the Class A Midwest League, where he made 41 relief appearances and posted a 3.58 ERA. He was then promoted to the Visalia Rawhide of the Class A-Advanced California League in 2016, where he had a dominant season, posting a 1.03 ERA in 27 relief appearances.
After the 2016 season, Pobereyko became a free agent and signed with the Southern Illinois Miners of the independent Frontier League. He continued to impress, posting a 1.20 ERA in 30 innings pitched with 46 strikeouts in 2017. He was then signed by the New York Mets organization and assigned to the Columbia Fireflies of the Class A South Atlantic League.
Pobereyko continued his impressive performance in the Mets organization, posting a 2.95 ERA in 23 relief appearances with the Fireflies in 2017. He was then promoted to the St. Lucie Mets of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League, where he made 10 relief appearances and had a 3.14 ERA.

In 2018, Pobereyko began the season with St. Lucie before being promoted to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies of the Double-A Eastern League. He had a combined 2.03 ERA in 42 relief appearances between the two teams. He also had an impressive 70 strikeouts in 48 2/3 innings pitched.
Pobereyko began the 2019 season with Binghamton before being promoted to the Triple-A Syracuse Mets. However, he struggled at the Triple-A level, posting a 9.00 ERA in six relief appearances. He was released by the Mets in July 2019 and signed with the Milwaukee Milkmen of the independent American Association.
Pobereyko had a dominant season with the Milkmen, posting a 1.70 ERA in 29 relief appearances. He also had an impressive 45 strikeouts in 37 1/3 innings pitched. His performance helped lead the Milkmen to the American Association championship.
