He had been working as a financial news host for CNBC television prior to taking on this position.

Kudlow started his career at the New York Federal Reserve as a junior financial analyst. Financial analyst positions at Paine Webber and Bear Stearns followed his quick departure from government.

Afterward, during the Reagan administration, Larry would rise to the position of associate director for economics after serving as a staff economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where he oversaw open market activities.

He also participated in the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation’s (Freddie Mac) advisory council. He considered running for US Senator in 2009 but ultimately decided against it.

He worked as a private economist and rose to the position of head economist at Bear Stearns before being sacked for skipping a client presentation. After that, he was on the board of directors for Empower America and worked as an economic counsel for A. B. Laffer & Associates.
