Early Life and Career Beginnings
Jennifer Kate Hudson was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 12, 1981. Englewood, a neighborhood in Chicago, is where she grew up as the youngest of three children. By the time she finished high school in 1999, Hudson had enrolled at Langston University, where she studied business.
