Support from supporters as Holly Willoughby rejoins Instagram following backlash
Following the criticism Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield received for standing in line for the Queen’s Lying-in-State, Holly Willoughby received support from her followers as she shared a photo on Instagram.
Morning Monday, the This Morning star captioned a photo of her dress for the ITV program. I’ll see you on @thismorning at 10 am.
Today, Harry Redknapp and his gorgeous Sandra are joining us. The skirt and sweater are from @cefinnstudio.
Her return to social media was welcomed by her followers and friends, with Abbey Clancy writing: “There she is!!!! Beautiful woman.
One follower commented, “So delighted you shared,” and another, “I missed these posts!” Hope all is well with you. You look wonderful.
Keep your chin up, the world has gone crazy, one person commented, while another added: “Ignore the naysayers lady you’re lovely x.”
After Holly and her co-host, Phillip was accused of “jumping the queue” to visit the Queen laying in the state before her funeral, they received harsh criticism.
In a statement read on This Morning, they made it clear that they were there to report as members of the media, that they had not gotten in line ahead of the Queen or taken anybody else’s place, and that they would never skip a line.
Despite the widespread public outcry, they have received support from ITV, and a petition to have them both removed from their employment has amassed more than 70,000 signatures.
According to an ITV insider, the people in line were actually pleased to see the presenters on the day of their work visit to see the Queen’s casket.
Phillip and Holly made a pit stop to greet people and take photographs with them. There was no animosity toward them at all,’ an ITV source reportedly told Metro.co.uk.
A representative for ITV also denied the assertion that Holly and Phil received jeers from spectators that day.
