Sarah Ikumu had one of the best auditions in the history of Britain’s Got Talent, and Simon Cowell gave her the Golden Buzzer in 2017. Ikumu was only 15 years old at the time, but her voice blew the judges away.

Even though the singer didn’t win the season, she hasn’t given up on music in the years since her audition. She just came out with a new single earlier this year. She is now 20 years old.

On “Britain’s Got Talent,” Sarah Ikumu wowed everyone.

Cowell reminded Ikumu that “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” is “one of the biggest songs in the world” when she told the BGT judges that she was going to sing it. It is by no means an easy song to sing, but Ikumu did it and then some.

Ikumu’s performance lasted almost five minutes, and she sang the famous song with a voice much older than she was. The judges stood up to cheer for her, and Cowell hit the Golden Buzzer right away. He told the young singer that she put her own spin on the song.

Ikumu later sang “Purple Rain” by Prince and “Rise Up” by Andra Day on the show. She lost in the Semifinals, but the judges chose to bring her back for the Final as a “Wild Card.” But she didn’t win in the end. That honour went to Tokio Myers, who is a pianist.

Since her time on the show, has Ikumu put out any music?

Ikumu’s first single, “Save You,” came out two years after she appeared on Britain’s Got Talent. Before that, she was on Showtime at the Apollo, where she sang “Here and Now” by Luther Vandross and “Glory” by Common and John Legend with a lot of power.

Ikumu’s second single, “Waiting,” is a soulful song that came out earlier this year. She posted a “Behind the Lyrics” video for the song on her YouTube channel. In it, she talked about how it started as a freestyle in the studio and ended up being about her current love life.

If you want to hear more of Ikumu, you can watch some of the shows she did before she was on BGT. In 2015, when she was only 14, she sang Beyoncé’s “Listen.” Over a million people have watched the video. Another version of “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston has more than three million views.

The singer also posts cover songs on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube all the time. She recently sang Alicia Keys’s “If I Ain’t Got You” and “Never Enough” from “The Greatest Showman.” Ikumu’s music career is just getting started. She is only 20 years old, so we can’t wait to see what she does next.
