Naomi Osaka is a professional tennis player from Japan. She has been ranked as high as No. 1 in the world by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and is considered one of the best players in the world.

She has won four Grand Slam singles titles in her career, including two US Open titles in 2018 and 2020, and two Australian Open titles in 2019 and 2020.

Naomi Osaka, a four-time major winner and former world No. 1, confirmed her pregnancy and said she will miss the entire 2023 tennis season. Rapper Cordae and Osaka, 25, have been dating since 2019.

Osaka tweeted an image of an ultrasound along with the statement, “I realize that life is so short and I don’t take any moments for granted, every day is a new blessing and adventure,” “I know that I have much to look forward to in the future, one thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, ‘that’s my mom,’ haha. 2023 will be a year that’ll be full of lessons for me and I hope I’ll see you guys at the start of the next one cause I’ll be at [Australian Open] 2024.”

Osaka, a two-time winner at the Australian Open, just announced her withdrawal.

She participated in just 11 tournaments in 2022 and hasn’t played a full match since losing in the first round of the US Open.

Since the 2021 Australian Open, Osaka hasn’t won a championship and hasn’t made it past the third round of a major tournament.

She has been open about her struggles with mental health, and after losing in the third round of the 2021 US Open, she informed reporters that she was no longer enjoying playing the sport.

After that, Osaka took an indefinite hiatus before coming back at the start of the 2022 season.

Due to her numerous collaborations and sponsorships, Osaka has continued to be the highest-paid female athlete off the court, according to Forbes.

Together with her longstanding agent Stuart Duguid, she founded her own talent agency in 2022. Since then, she has landed clients including Nick Kyrgios and Ons Jabeur.

When Osaka makes her anticipated comeback, she will be one of many mothers participating in the tour.

In response to Osaka’s news, a number of ex-players, including Billie Jean King, Kim Clijsters, and Rennae Stubbs, offered her messages of congratulations and support.

Summary

Four-time major champion and former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka has announced that she is pregnant and will miss the entire 2023 tennis season. She has been dating rapper Cordae since 2019 and has made clear in her recent tweet that she is looking forward to her child watching one of her matches in the future.

Osaka recently withdrew from the upcoming Australian Open, and hasn’t played a full match since the first-round loss at the US Open of 2021 and played in just 11 tournaments in 2022, her mental health and lack of joy in the sport are reasons for this.
