In the wake of his breakup with Susie Evans, Clayton Echard is talking openly about his feelings.
In a joint interview with Evans for the Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe show on PodcastOne, the former Bachelor acknowledged that he was hurt by their separation.
He admitted to presenter Kaitlyn Bristowe, “It’s really hard because when we initially broke up…my first original thought was, like, I felt abandoned; that was my first feeling. “I felt angry. I was afraid that if I looked at her, the pain would rip me apart, so I didn’t even want to look in her way.”
Susie Evans answered, “He was quite sassy, which I found offensive. Oh, so that’s how we’re going to do it, I thought.
The hostility toward Evans, though, was short-lived.
That only lasted for about half a day, after which Echard said, “I can’t do this.” “She must be my focus for the upcoming week. This is something I cannot do. This is not what I want to do. There is a lot of affection here. I’d like for us to part ways amicably. We were pleased for a few days after I apologized and said, “Hey, I want us to be happy.”
Evans and Echard both said that they questioned if they had made the correct choice in ending their relationship.
Echard remarked, “We were crying nonstop. We thought, “Wait, we’re having so much fun right now, shouldn’t we break up?”
Echard, a former NFL player, revealed on the show that Evans got in touch with him again after agreeing to remain apart. But he is unsure of what will be best for the ex-couple.
“Can Susie and I still communicate while letting go of the thought, “Can this work?” Because what would occur if it didn’t?” said he. “I want to maintain optimism so that I won’t be broken. Then all of a sudden, you realize that this won’t work, and you get completely destroyed once more.”
Following their breakup, Evans quipped in a TikTok video that he had been feeling better thanks to some general self-care.
She captioned the video, “Me to every self-care ritual I’ve picked up this week.” “You little s—-, you better fix my entire life.”
But honestly, Evans continued.
She may be seen chatting to an empty diary while donning a face mask in the video.

Last month, Echard and Evans shared an Instagram post in which they revealed their separation. “We wanted to let you know that we’ve made the difficult decision to part ways. Anyone who has ever loved understands that this was a difficult choice to make and was not made lightly “They composed.
“We are aware that there will probably be many inquiries regarding this choice because social media is undoubtedly a highlight reel and because we have kept many of our shared experiences private for reasons that I’m sure most people can appreciate. But we’ll be honest: even though our last year together has been filled with so much happiness and laughter, there has also been a sizable amount of suffering.”
Despite Evans’ self-elimination from the show, the couple first connected on The Bachelor. Echard and Evans made the decision to try a long-distance relationship public in August.
There’s no pressure, Echard said at the time. “We don’t know if it’s going to be a month-long [relationship] from here or if it’s going to be a lifetime,” Echard said. Let’s simply love one another and express gratitude.
